Howard I. Johnson
May 31, 1930 - September 10, 2011
Harold I. Johnson, 81, of Hibbard, rural Culver, passed away on Sept  10, 2011 at St. Joseph Regional
Medical Center in Plymouth, IN.   
Harold was born on May 31, 1930, one of 7 children born to Henry and Elsie (Hatfield) Johnson in New
Carlisle, IN.    Harold married Marjorie J. Black and together they raised 7 children.  One died in infancy.  
Marjorie passed away on Jan. 15, 1986.  He later met and married Pamela F. Hardy on April 2, 1988 at The
Shalom Fellowship Church in Plymouth.  Rev. James Gilmer officiated.  Harold and Pam were married 23
years and he helped raise her 3 children.   
Harold was an extremely good mechanic.  He worked 16 years at Rubin Auto Parts in South Bend.  Later he
worked for 6 years at Frollic Homes in Elkhart.  He loved anything out doors, bike riding, racing and trains.      
Harold is survived by his wife Pamela Johnson of Hibbard; sons David (Debbie) Johnson of South Bend, and  
Joseph Johnson of Upper Michigan;  daughters Roberta (Joel) Hale and  Barbara Daley both of South Bend,  
Linda Johnson of Mishawaka, and Karen Rippe of Chesterton, brother Charles (Joan) Johnson of Nevada,  
sisters Ida Redding of Michigan City, and Margie (Ken) Sare of South Bend;  Step-Children Nikki (Jason)
Shortt of Plymouth, Heather (William) Roberts of Culver, and Jeremy Hardy of Tucson, AZ;. 39 grandchildren,
and 55 great grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Terry, 2 brothers, and a
sister.    
A visitation was held on Sept. 15, 2011 from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the Wesley United Methodist Church in
Culver.  Funeral Services followed at 3:00 PM, officiated by Rev. Jim Gilmer.  Burial was in the Burr Oak
Cemetery.
