Jack B Kowatch, 89, of North Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Culver, passed away
on November 20, 2011 at 7:15am in the Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida.
Jack was born on November 29, 1921 in Culver, IN. He was one of children born to
John and Vada (Burch) Kowatch. Jack was married to Catherine Thornburg.
Together they raised their daughter Sondra. Catherine preceded Jack in death in
1980. Jack later fell in love and married Joyce Mikesell on September 4, 1983 at
the Maxinkuckee Country Club in Culver.
Jack owner and operated Kowatch Plumbing and Heating in Culver for many years.
He managed the Maxinkuckee Country Club for 34 years, retiring in 2008. He loved
playing golf, woodworking, and building cabinets. He and Joyce wintered in Florida
for many years before making it their permanent home.
Jack is survived by his wife - Joyce Kowatch of North Fort Myers, FL; brothers –
Edward (Mary) Kowatch and John Kowatch of Culver and James (Beverly) Kowatch
of Chicago, IL; son-in-law Leon Bennett of Culver; grandchildren – Cynthia (Bruce)
Carter, Todd (Shaunna) Bennett, and Trent (Dana) Bennett; 8 great-grandchildren; 2
great-great grandchildren; step-grandchildren – Angela Garner, Nancy Greene, and
Thomas Guy II; and 4 step-great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents, 1st wife Catherine, daughter Sondra Bennett, and 2 sisters.
A time of sharing memories with the family will be held at the Culver Bible Church
from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday,November 26, 2011. Rev. Dan Huhn will
officiate funeral services at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at the Culver
Masonic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in Jack’s memory to the Culver Bible Church or to Hope
Hospice.
