Elsie M. Wieringa, 89, of Lakeville, Indiana, formerly of Culver, passed away on
Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Southfield Village Nursing Home in South Bend.
Elsie was born on Jan 17, 1922, in Galveston, Indiana, one of 7 children born to James
(Laura Ronk) Tolley. On November 15, 1941 Elsie was married to Edgar Wieringa.
Together they raised 2 children.
For over 50 years they farmed in the Culver area. Elsie also played shuffle board and
belonged to a group in Plymouth. She also attended the Lakeville United Methodist
Church in Lakeville, Indiana. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by them.
Elsie is survived by her daughter Rose (Paul) Russell of Lakeville, IN; son Ed (Gail)
Wieringa of Marshaville, Ohio; grandchildren - Tiffany (Roger) Dillon of Canton, Ohio,
Karen (Jeremy) Gaub of Medina, Ohio, Scott (Carol) Russell of South Bend, IN, and
Brian Russell of Knoxville, Tennessee; and great grandchildren Samantha Dillon and
Lucca Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.
A time of sharing memories with the family will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011
from 4:00 - 8:00pm EDT at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver, Indiana. Pastor Brian
White will officiate funeral serices on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11:00am EDT at
the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Culver Masonic Cemetery.
